National Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture. The events start in Chesterfield at the Winding Wheel Theatre at 10am on 20 Sep, followed by events at the Museum on 21 Sep at 10am and the Town Hall on 21 Sep at 1pm and 2.30pm.
Chesterfield Borough Council is also holding the following Heritage Days events:

Meet the Mayor and Mayoress of Chesterfield and take a tour around the Mayor’s Parlour, learning of the role of the civic office and some of the history of the borough through the artefacts on display and see the regalia associated with the office..
Learn about the civic role of the Mayor and Mayoress, the history of some of the former incumbents and about the twin towns and gifts the borough has received ,
and the famous visitors. Pre-booking for this event is essential. The duration of the tour is 1 hour, plus time for complimentry refreshments.

Come along to Chesterfield Museum on Saturday 21 September, from 10am to 4pm, and meet local organisations exploring Chesterfield's history,
A day for local organisations to tell people about the work they do and recruit new members. Visitors can meet members of Chesterfield and District Local History Society, staff from the Local Studies department of Chesterfield Library, the Friends of Spital Cemetery and other organisations involved in Chesterfield's past.
